Don't Forget To Keep Living by Vinci

Closeup of the main part of this 3-D collage piece : http://solfire.com/newlopart/6/cheating_death_on_the_beach.jpg. The photo caught the shineythings but not much else. :)

Anywho, kind of a story illustration, kind of a remark on a relationship that takes a beating from life and still has that spark in it. V&A are a lot more bashed and bruised here than when they started, but they're still goin' strong. :)

Red Dog in watercolor by Vinci

Still trying to figure this stuff out. Anywho, I've been wanting to do a portrait of my old cat, Red Dog, for the longest time. Anyone who's met me knows that this cat is the most spoiled animal in the universe. He has more clothes than I do, I think.

Photo, because the scans were coming out even worse.

Medium: watercolor
Tags: siamese
First Shot at Watercolor by Vinci

I've always been a bit nervous around watercolor and just said to myself "Well, you're not going to learn unless you try." so I did.

This is my first attempt with watercolors and colored pencil for the shading, etc. I had a blast with this one. It's my husband's beautiful but snarky character, Arty, who is a made-up animal called a yumar (aquatic cheetah, durr hurr). The scan didn't pick up the glitter I snuck onto his tail and his eyes.

Medium: watercolor
Tags: yumar
This is Cody, who makes his debut later on in the comic. The boys, both happy to be alive.
Another victim of our tempermental scanner! (edit- Fixx0red!
Welcome to Parenthood by Vinci

I'm kicking myself because I totally forgot the silver streaks that would have been in Vinci's hair (He starts going gray around the time he becomes a father--go fig!) Baby Greer looks no worse for wear after another all nighter. As a matter of fact, she's thrilled! This was unfortunately the best scan we could get, the colors are a lot clearer in person.

Medium: colored pencil
Tags: raccoon yumar lop
Disbelief by Vinci

A commentary on the events in life that one never expects to happen to them, until they do.
People focus on the suffering of the patient, and sometimes forget what their loved ones are also going through.
Bashful Doll by Vinci

A full-body shot of a doll I made. The character is Bashful Dawnwake, a goofy and exuberant youngster who seems to perpetually be in competition for the Darwin awards, and yet seems to survive every stupid, overly bold thing he does completely unscathed.
He's made from polymer clay, glass beads, lamb's wool, and doll clothes. Somewhere in my bedroom, a now naked Ken doll is furious with me.

Medium: polymer clay
Tags:
A full-body shot of a doll I made. The character is Bashful Dawnwake, a goofy and exuberant youngster who seems to perpetually be in competition for the Darwin awards, and yet seems to survive every stupid, overly bold thing he does completely unscathed.
He's made from polymer clay, glass beads, lamb's wool, and doll clothes. Somewhere in my bedroom, a now naked Ken doll is furious with me.

Bashful Meets Greer by Vinci

Bashful Dawnwake, the spotty fellow on the left, is someone who completely lives up to the exact opposite of his own name.
That is, until this moment, when the equally bold and adventurous Greer decides to ruffle his proverbial feathers a bit!

Medium: colored pencil
Tags: bunny
Progressive Rockwell by Vinci

Norman Rockwell is one of my favorite artists ever, so here is my spoof of his famous "Triple Self Portrait".
The poor man is likely rolling in his grave.
The characters featured are from my webcomic; the sweet but easily frustrated Athenian, Vinci, and his spotted partner Arty, who seems to bounce between bitter and flamboyant.

Medium: colored pencil
Tags: raccoon
